AC/DC: OLD VINTAGE ‘82 UK TOUR SHIRT & NICE GROUP OF EARLY PATCHES & BUTTONSThis week on Ebay we are offering up this very cool vintage collection of AC/DC Rock memorabilia.
There are several different items in this lot. All from my own personal collection of Rock memorabilia that I need to thin out and find good new homes for.
CONCERT T-SHIRT
1982 UK Tour T-shirt. Let me first say that this is a REPRO made in the last 10 or 15 years. These were made for various stores to sell as re-makes of vintage rock concert shirts. It was purposely made to look old and distressed. The rough look of the design was done intentionally to make it appear vintage.
The shirt is in excellent gently worn condition. I should have washed it before taking the pictures. I just pulled it out of my storage box along with the other items. The white specks and ‘dog hairs’ on the shirt are artifact. I’ll wash it, press it and bag it before sending it out. It will come clean and ready to wear. That being said, it’s a cool old repro shirt for the 1982 UK tour. The shirt is 100% pre-shrunk Cotton. Size is stated MEDIUM. No ‘name’ on the tag. Size from pit to pit is 18” From collar to bottom is 23” long. Single sided. I tried to take some detailed pictures to show condition. No stains, no holes. ‘Pits’ are fine and stain free. Again, the distressed look was intentional.
BUTTONS/PINS
There are 3 nice older buttons here. The ‘Fly’ button is the oldest. The back is a little oxidized from age but otherwise a rare older pin. The Powerage one has some light scratches and wear, but not bad. It’s from around 1978, the year of that album’s release.
The third Button mentions Donnington, their famous show from 1991. (The Donnington Live dvd is a great watch if you’re a fan.)
PATCHES
There are 3 patches in this Lot. A big jacket back patch and 2 smaller, older patches. The big jacket patch is pretty cool. It features a great picture of Angus and is basically the same shot as the cover to the 45 single, which was released in 1988.
It is roughly 10” x 14” in size and is printed on thick heavy cloth. It was on the back of one of my jackets back in the day and was then carefully and gently removed, but it still has small ‘holes’ in the corners and at the top and bottom edges where is was sewn down. They’re small and barely noticeable, but should be pointed out. I gave a picture of the back side to see them. Overall, it looks great and still has great, bold colors.
The other two patches are also very cool. One is a nice Blue AC/DC logo. The other is a nice red and gold ‘Thunderstruck’ patch with lightning bolts and a cool design. Thunderstruck was a song from 1990’s ‘Razor’s Edge’ LP. These 2 patches were never used and look great with nice bold colors.
Overall, a nice group of vintage AC/DC memorabilia.
I can’t recall where I got all these items; probably at New York City music shops down in the Village, years ago, where I bought most of my records and paraphernalia. I’ve had them tucked away in my ‘Concert Memorabilia’ box for at least 20 years now, maybe longer, with other pins, patches, ticket stubs, stickers and such. It’s time it found a new home and a second life.
I did wear the large patch on my ‘rock jacket’ back then and wore the buttons also, so they have very minor fine scratches, but still look great. I think it gives these items age, authenticity and patina. These are vintage items and not ‘new’.
I was a real fan and supporter of AC/DC back in the day. Loved those first few Bon Scott albums. Still do.
Please look at the high-resolution pictures for the best sense of condition. Everything still looks great. The photos are of the actual items up for sale, not ‘borrowed’ or ‘stock’ photos.
I’m listing all of these item as one lot as I think they are mostly from the same time period and should remain together.
I hope that there’s an AC~DC fan out there that would want these for their collection and give them a good new home.
